In August 2009, seven newcomers stepped off the plane into the West Coast region to serve others in the name of Christ through the International Volunteer Exchange Program (IVEP). After an educational year of challenges, new experiences and joys, they are headed back home. At the end of the year each IVEP participant has learned unique lessons they were willing to share with us.

Thanks to a dedicated turn out, the three spring West Coast MCC Relief Sales raised a grand total of $315,708. Everything from plants to furniture and quilts to toaster ovens were sold to benefit world hunger and relief. The sales this year raised proceeds and awareness of the ongoing global and local work of MCC as well as encouraged local community involvement.

Ryan and Holly Snyder Thompson will leave in July 2010 to begin a three year expedition of learning in Iran’s capital city, Tehran. The ultimate goal of the study program is to have open interfaith dialogue.
